Camfil receives award for economic diplomacy

Camfil was one of eight Swedish companies to receive an award for long-term presence and successful business activities in Belgium.

The award was given recently at a ceremony in Brussels by CIDIC* (Cercle International Diplomatique et Consulaire), the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Belgium and Luxembourg, and the Brussels Diplomatic Academy.

The eight Swedish-based companies receiving the award were Camfil, Atlas Copco, Electrolux, Ericsson, IKEA, Medicover, Mölnlycke Health Care and Volvo. Ulrika Sundberg, Sweden's Ambassador to Belgium, handed over the prizes at the end of her conference on the close economic collaboration between Sweden and Belgium.

Belgium was one of the first countries where Camfil established an international subsidiary in the early 1970s. Over the years, Camfil Belgium has been providing energy-efficient clean air solutions and air filtration products to Belgian customers in a number of key industries, including pharmaceutical, food processing and energy. Low-energy air filters for the ventilation systems of commercial and public buildings are another specialty. In 2014, Camfil celebrated 40 years of successful business in Belgium.

Since 2010, Camfil has developed a stakeholders dialogue in Brussels to raise awareness about the health and economic benefits of improved indoor air quality in buildings. For example, Camfil participates in debates with EU institutional stakeholders, policymakers, politicians, NGOs, industry and professional associations to support the development of energy efficiency measures in the building sector that will not compromise indoor air quality (IAQ) and health. These initiatives include the Ecodesign Directive, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and related CEN standards.

Reducing the power consumption of HVAC systems with energy-efficient filters like Camfil's – which also improve IAQ – is a practical way to mitigate climate change and combat the health threats of indoor air pollution.

This business approach to developing EU regulations and stakeholder engagement is part of the Camfil Group's long-term sustainability strategy.
